Feazle Rock Cemetery

1. George L. Feazle (# 40 in Listing) The son of John George Feazle and Margaret Pearwas born March 3, 1803, in Hawkins County Tennessee. He married his first wife, Lucinda Kirkland, in 1825, in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. To this union were born: Aaron, Elizabeth, Francis W., Angelina, and Eliza Ann Feazle.

After the death of Lucinda Kirkland, George Feazle married his second wife, Pamela Greer, in 1883 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. To this union were born four children: Thomas J., Ashley, Arzula May, and Sarah M. Feazle.

After the death of his second wife, George Feazle, with his children and grandchildren, moved to Texas in 1850 and settled in San Saba County along the San Saba River and named the area Spring Valley. George Feazle died November 1885. The family of George L. Feazle is the only branch of the Feazel clan to spell their name Feazle.

2. Aaron Feazle (# 41 in Listing) The firstborn son of George L. Feazle and Lucinda Kirkland, came to Texas in 1850 with his father. He is the half brother of Ashley. He served as Frontier Guard during the Civil War. He was a master craftsman and stonemason. He carved the headstones that mark the gravesites of his father and himself. He made the brass bells for the cows and forged the metal for the plows and other tools. He was never married.

3. Alice Feazle (# 9 in Listing) Alice is the daughter of Ashley Feazle and Mary D. (Jones) Feazle. She was never married. She is buried beside her brother, Paris.

4. Ashley Feazle (# 13 in Listing) Ashley is the son of George L. Feazle and Pamela Greer Feazle. He was married to Mary Delilah Jones. Twelve children were born to this union: Stella, Alice, Mollie, Connie, Calvin, Fannie, George, Tom, Pauline, Harry, Paris and Eupha May.

Ashley was a Texas Minute Man and fought in the Indian Wars. He and many of his family lived on the Feazle homestead all of their lives.

5. Calvin "Bud" Feazle (# 8 in Listing) The son of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah Jones was born in San Saba County and married Lula Bell Kefauver. They were the parents of twelve children, seven girls and five boys.

6. Evelyn Feazle (# 18 in Listing) Evelyn is the daughter of Harry Feazle and Willie Francis Berry. Her mother died in 1919, in Kempner, Texas. Her father Harry brought her and her brother home to San Saba to live with his parents, Ashley and Mary Feazle, and his sister, Alice Feazle. She lived in that home for the rest of her life.

7. Mary Delilah (Jones) Feazle (#14 in Listing) The wife of Ashley Feazle, Delilah was born in Macon City, Georgia, the daughter of Kaziah Blaylock and John T. Jones.

8. Mollie C. Feazle (# 11 in Listing) Daughter of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah Jones Feazle, Mollie was born in 1876 in the log cabin built by her grandfather in Spring Valley, San Saba County. She lived with her parents most of her life. She was married in later life (April 1929) to Archie Burk.

9. Paris Feazle (# 10 in Listing) Paris was the son of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah Jones Feazle. His twin brother was Harry Feazle. He lived all his life on the Feazle homestead along the San Saba River. He is buried beside his sister Alice in the Feazle Rock Cemetery. A double headstone marks their gravesite.

10. Stella Feazle (# 12 in Listing) Stella was the daughter of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah Jones. She married Benjamin K. Bloomfield in 1895 in San Saba County. She is buried beside her sister in the Feazle Cemetery.

11. Sadie Brown (# 7 in Listing) Sadie is the daughter of Connie Feazle and James W. Brown. She is buried at the head of her grandfather, John T. Jones.

12. Davis, Charles N. (Nettie) (#51 in Listing) and John W. R. (Number 52 in the listing) are the daughter and son of Cicely Francis (Dennis) Davis and J. T. Davis. They are buried side by side in concrete covered graves near the grave of their great grandfather, George L. Feazle. Their mother, Cicely Francis (Dennis) Davis, is the daughter of Eliza Ann Feazle, the daughter of George L. Feazle.

13. Hendricks, Thomas and Nelson (# 1 and # 2 in the Listing) The connection of the Hendricks family to the Feazle family is through the marriage of Beunia Vista Hendricks to the son of Eliza Ann Feazle.

14. Hodge (# 19 through 21 in the Listing) The connection of the Hodge family to the Feazle family is through the marriage of the Rev. Robert A. Hodge to Nannie S. (?) Hodge. Nannie S. was a relative of George L. Feazle.

15. Hornecker (# 33 in the Listing) The connection of the Hornecker family to the Feazle family is through the connection of the Teague and Prescott families. Roy Lee Teague, the grandson of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott, married Ethel Mae Homecker.

16. John T. Jones (# 15 in the Listing) John T. Jones was the father of Mary Delilah Jones Feazle and the grandfather of Sadie Brown who is the daughter of Connie Feazle and James W. Brown. He served in the Confederate States Army and was a Frontier Guard and Texas Ranger. He died at the age of 85 and is buried beside his daughter, Mary Delilah Jones Feazle, in the Feazle Rock Cemetery.

17. Lauderdale (# 39 in the Listing) The Lauderdale connection to the Feazle family is through the family of Eliza Ann Feazle (Dennis) and William Lauderdale. Eliza Ann Feazle is the daughter of George L. Feazle and Lucinda Kirkland. After the death of her first husband, Charles R. Dennis, she married William Lauderdale. After the death of her second husband, Eliza Ann apparently came back to San Saba (according to the 1980 census) and lived with her father. The unidentified gravesite at the head of George L. Feazle's grave is thought to be that of a grandchild of Eliza Ann Feazle Lauderdale.

18. McCarley (# 5 and # 6 in Listing) They are related to the Feazle family through the marriage of Earl P. McCarley to Eupha Mae Feazle. Eupha Mae is the daughter of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah (Jones) Feazle.

19. McCutcheon (#4 in the Listing) Arthur McCutcheon was the son of Fannie Gains Feazle and William B. McCutcheon. Fannie Gains Feazle was the daughter of Ashley Feazle and Mary Delilah (Jones) Feazle.

20. Moore (# 22 through 27 in the Listing) The connection of the Moore family to the Feazle family is through the marriage of Jack/John Prescott to Kate Moore. John Prescott is the son of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott. Kate Moore is the daughter of Mattie and R. V. Moore.

21. Prescott (#28 and # 29 in Listing) The Prescott family is connected to the Feazle family through the marriage of Arzula May Feazle to Aaron Prescott. Arzula Feazle is the daughter of George Feazle and Pamela Greer.

22. Ringo (# 30, # 31 and # 32 in the Listing) The Ringo family is linked to the Feazle family through the marriage of Dorothy Prescott to James Orville "Dutch" Ringo. Dorothy Prescott is the granddaughter of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott.

23. Roberts (# 37 and #38 in Listing) The Roberts family is related to the Feazle family through the marriage of Tommie R. Roberts to Dorothy Mae Teague. Dorothy Mae Teague is the great granddaughter of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott.

24. Romair (# 49 and # 50 in Listing) The Romair family is related to the Feazle family through the marriage of Detroit J. Romair to Mary Alene Teague. Mary Alene Teague is the daughter of Roy Lee Teague Sr. who was the grandson of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott.

25. Squires (# 54 in the Listing) Feazle family cemetery records indicate that Margaret Clay Squires and her twin daughters (all who died shortly after the birth of the twins) are buried in or just outside of the original boundaries of the cemetery. A single sandstone marker with the initial M.S marked the burial site. The site indicated on the plat map as the burial site is now covered by large rocks from the old rock fence, and it is not possible to locate the marker. It is known that Margaret Squires was the wife of Thomas Squires, but no information can be found to connect the Squires family to the Feazle family.

26. Teague (# 34, # 35, and # 36 in the Listing) The connection of the Teague family to the Feazle family is through the marriage of Mollie Mary Prescott to George Teague. Mollie Mary Prescott was the daughter of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott. Roy Lee Teague, Sr. was the grandson of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott.

27. Word (# 42 through 48 in the Listing) The Word family is connected to the Feazle family through the marriage of Cassie Helen Prescott to William P. Word. Cassie Helen Prescott was the daughter of Arzula Feazle and Aaron Prescott.

28. Mexican Family (# 53 in Listing) There are several unmarked gravesites in the northeast corner of the cemetery. Family cemetery records indicate there are members of a family of Mexican ranch workers buried in that area of the cemetery. Beds of iris outline the gravesites.
