Location: The Maxwell Cemetery is located in western San Saba County near the San Saba River in Spring Valley on the O. P. Leonard Ranch.
GPS: Latitude: 31.1685oN Longitude: 98.9154oN
Directions: From the western San Saba city limit on U. S. 190 go west 7.9 miles to CR 340.
• Turn left on CR 340 and go south‑southwest 3.4 miles to the Leonard Ranch headquarters.
• From Leonard Ranch headquarters veer right off of CR 340. Go through a locked gate, with permission, and follow a meandering road 2.7 miles past the Welcome to Spring Valley sign, past Leonard Ranch Lodge, through several gates with cattle guards on a road along large pecan orchards and into pasture land, up a steep hillside to the top of the hill. The cemetery is on the right, about 25 yards off the road.
Condition:
The cemetery consists of three separate fenced areas as shown on the plat map. The westernmost section contains four graves and is fenced with three feet high antique iron fencing. The middle section contains nine graves and is fenced by three feet high chain link fencing with gates on the north and east sides. The third section is located in the northeast comer of the larger middle section. It is separately fenced with a gate at the northeast comer. The cemetery is showing signs of long neglect. It is covered by tall prairie grass, cactus, and thorn brush. Most tombstones are standing and unbroken. Only one has been broken from its base.
