John Wesley Smith Cemetery

FOOTNOTES:

 

1.         John Wesley Smith was born February 25, 1847 in Limestone County, Alabama.  He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Smith and Wilmeth Thompson.  The Benjamin Smith family moved to Caldwell County, Texas in 1857.  Two years later they moved to San Saba County and located on the north side of the San Saba River near what is now known as the China Creek Community.

 

2.         The John Wesley Smith Family.  John Wesley married Elizabeth Ketchum May 16, 1867.  Twelve children were born to this union:

            1.         Temerance Catherine who married Rila Roberds.

            2.         Benjamin F. who died as an infant

            3.         Lee Wilson married Lillie Belle McNeil

            4.         Patrick M. married Mollie Biggs

            5.         Anna May married Jack Tomlinson

            6.         Green Berry married Ella Lane

            7.         Alva died as an infant

            8.         I.W., “Ike” died as an infant

            9.         Fay, who was first married to Will Prescott, then to Jack Chaney

            10.       E. C., “Buddy” married Flora Judkins

            11.       Bettie married Frank Ellis

            12        John Wesley Smith, Jr.

 

3.         John Wesley Smith died December 29, 1918, and is buried in the China Creek Cemetery.

 

4.         Elizabeth Ketchum Smith died June 7, 1933, and is buried in the China Creek Cemetery.
