FM 580 across from the general store in Bend, Texas

(1849-1928) “Beloved pioneer doctor in this area for 40 years; served as pharmacist, general practitioner, obstetrician, dentist & on occasion, surgeon & nurse. Traveled horseback, two wheel cart, horse & buggy (Old Ross in picture). Crossed river by ferry boat; wore out 3 Ford cars. Came to Bend with his wife Arebell Tomblinson, 1882. Owned & operated general mercantile store with son, Lawrence. "No nights too dark or road too long to serve his fellow man. Erected by those who loved him - July, 1965”
